The hostel did offer a decent breakfast and the toilets were in acceptable condition. these minor advantages do not compensate for the lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and disregard for customer satisfaction. I would strongly advise anyone looking for a peaceful and pleasant stay in Sheffield to explore other accommodation options, as this hostel fails to meet even the most basic expectations.
I have to say that my experience at this hostel was far from satisfactory. upon arrival, we were informed that our reserved rooms were not available and someone else was already occupying them.

During my recent stay at Russell Scott Backpackers, I was pleasantly surprised by the value for money. The facilities, although old, were clean and functional. The kitchen was well-stocked with a variety of breakfast options including cereals, bread, nutella, milk, and juice. The self-service breakfast allowed me to enjoy my meal at my own convenience. Additionally, the proximity to a nearby supermarket was convenient for any other food needs. I had a satisfactory experience and would consider staying again.

The hostel is located in a quiet residential area up in the hills, offering a peaceful atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. the rooms are clean and comfortable, providing a pleasant stay. the staff members, particularly the girl at reception, are kind and always willing to help. the hostel's location in front of a hostel area provides a convenient setting to engage in outdoor activities.
The hostel lacks a common area apart from the small kitchen, which can be a drawback for socializing opportunities within the accommodation.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet location. Many shower rooms and toilets, no queues in the morning. Well-equipped kitchen with two cookers and a fridge. Washing and drying machines available. Plenty of wall sockets, bring a masterplug 4 socket for multiple devices. Would have loved to stay longer. Fruitful interactions with kitchen staff and other guests during a challenging time. Limited breakfast options but still available. a supportive and accommodating place to stay.

I recently stayed at Russell Scott Backpackers for two nights while attending gigs in Sheffield. The location was perfect and served as a great base for exploring the city. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a night out. The staff were friendly and helpful, even providing an extra pillow when requested. The shared kitchen created a sense of community among guests, fostering a friendly vibe. On top of all this, there was free parking available on the quiet and safe road, and it was conveniently close to a Tesco superstore. it was a great value for money stay with all the necessary comforts.
Would recommend this hotel.

Small slope to the hostel entrance can be difficult with large suitcases.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. They were always available to answer any questions and provide assistance. I also liked that the hotel offered towel rentals for a small fee, which was convenient for travelers who may have forgotten to bring their own.
The cleanliness of the rooms was a major drawback. the dusty carpet and suspected unchanged beds were also unpleasant.

Great value for money, with clean rooms and spacious showers. The location was convenient, not too far from tram stops to get into the city centre and university. The staff, especially Damian, were friendly and available to help.
The breakfast options could be improved with more variety.

My recent stay at this hostel was exceptional. Russell Scott Backpackers provided a delightful experience. the rooms were beautifully decorated with charming night lamps, and the addition of a large table allowed for private dining or board games with companions. the cleanliness and coziness of the room were impressive. the breakfast included a lovely selection of cereals, including Shreddies. the hostel itself was well-maintained, with a hot shower and good water flow. the staff was friendly and explained access and WiFi in detail. The location was convenient for exploring nearby parks and enjoying hikes. Cons: Could not be improved in any way. 😊.

As trekkers and a group of friends, we loved the fully operational Database Kitchen and the fact that we could easily walk to the nearby Big TESCO. the self-service breakfast with a variety of breads, cereals, and milk was a convenient and nice touch.
Felt like a home away from home, no reason to complain.

My recent stay at Russell Scott Backpackers in Sheffield was a pleasant surprise. The bed I slept on was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows provided were top-notch. I also appreciated the convenience of having hair dryers available in the bathrooms. The free breakfast was a bonus, even though it was self-service with cereals, tea, and bread. Moreover, the staff members were friendly, welcoming, and always accessible. I would highly recommend this hostel for its affordable prices and comfortable amenities.
Although my stay was enjoyable, there were a few minor drawbacks. The showers could be cleaner, especially in terms of the grout between the tiles.
